2012 UCI Road World Championships – Women's Team Time Trial
The Women's team time trial of the 2012 UCI Road World Championships cycling event took place on 16 September 2012 in the province of Limburg, Netherlands. It was the first such event for trade teams. The race was won by the German licensed squad (Charlotte Becker, Ellen van Dijk, Amber Neben, Evelyn Stevens, Ina-Yoko Teutenberg, Trixi Worrack) by 24.19 seconds over the Australian Orica–AIS, with the Dutch outfit completing the podium, 1 minute and 59.32 seconds in arrears of . Participation Invitations were sent to the 20 leading UCI Women's Teams in the team rankings on 15 August 2012. Sengers Ladies Cycling Team, which entered the top 20 on 26 August was invited as well. Twelve teams accepted the invitation within the deadline and got the right to participate. 2012 UCI Road World Championships
The 2012 UCI Road World Championships took place in the southern part of the Dutch province of Limburg, also known as South Limburg, between September 15 and 23. The event consisted of a road race and a time trial for men, women and men under 23, and team time trials for elite men and women. It was the 79th Road World Championships. Castelfidardo near Loreto in Italy was also a candidate, but Italy had held the UCI Road World Championships in Varese in 2008. The Netherlands had last hosted the Road World Championships in 1998, in Valkenburg aan de Geul, and 2012 was the seventh time that the country hosted the championships. The 2012 championships had a number of changes compared to the former editions. A team time trial was reintroduced. This was last competed as a world championship event in 1994 between nations. Shara Gillow
Shara Gillow (born 23 December 1987) is an Australian former professional cyclist, who competed professionally between 2011 and 2020, for the , , and teams. She was selected to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics, where she finished 13th in the time trial and 39th in the road race. Personal Gillow was born on 23 December 1987 in Nambour, Queensland. Her father David Gillow is an Olympic cyclist who represented Zimbabwe at the 1980 Summer Olympics. She attended Nambour Christian College then was home schooled and obtained a Bachelor of Language from Western Sydney Institute. , she lives in Belli, Queensland. Beyond cycling, Gillow is also a surfer. Cycling Gillow is a road cyclist. Her events are the Road Race and Individual Time Trial. Judith Arndt
Judith Arndt (born 23 July 1976) is a retired German professional cyclist, who last rode for the GreenEDGE-AIS cycling team. She won the bronze medal in the 3000 m pursuit event at the 1996 Summer Olympics when she was 20. In 2004, she won the world road race championship and came second in the Olympic road race. Career Arndt won the national individual pursuit championship four times and Olympic bronze in the same competition. But a viral infection during the 2000 Summer Olympics – causing a disappointing outcome – marked the turning in her career. 2012 BrainWash Ladies Tour
The 15th edition of the annual Holland Ladies Tour was held from September 4 to September 9, 2012. The women's stage race with an UCI rating of 2.2 started in Neerijnen, and ended in Berg en Terblijt. The Holland Ladies Tour 2012 had financial problems due to sponsoring problems. Their sponsor quit and it was unsure if the Tour would be organized in 2012. The organization initially decided to organize the tour without a new sponsor, before signing a sponsorship contract with Dutch hairdressing salon chain BrainWash and renaming the 15th edition of the race the BrainWash Ladies Tour. Open de Suède Vårgårda is an elite professional women's road bicycle event held annually in the Vårgårda Municipality of Sweden. Amstel Gold Race
The Amstel Gold Race is an annual one-day classic road cycling race held in the province of Limburg, Netherlands. It traditionally marks the turning point of the spring classics, with the climbers and stage racers replacing the cobbled classics riders as the favourites. Since 1989 the event has been included in season-long competitions at the highest level of UCI, as part of the UCI Road World Cup (1989–2004), the UCI ProTour (2005–2010), UCI World Ranking (2009–2010) and since 2011 of the UCI World Tour. Cauberg
The Cauberg is a hill in Valkenburg aan de Geul, a town in the South Limburg region of the Netherlands. The hill played an important role in the early development of tourism in Valkenburg. Today, several major tourist attractions are situated on or nearby Cauberg. The hill's fame is mainly due to the many cycling races and championships that were held here.
